Crowns
Crowns also known as a ‘cap’ are required for a few reasons, either the tooth is not strong enough to hold its own and needs support to function or for aesthetic reasons to improve the appearance. Often crowns are used to stabilize the tooth in relation of other treatments, for example after having root canal treatment or to give a bridge more support.
Crowns will surround the entire tooth which means we can repair virtually any cosmetic issues whilst holding a stunning, realistic smile.
There are several options as to the material used; gold, gold alloy, ceramic, porcelain and porcelain bonded. Our dentists will help to find the required material for your needs.
The procedure requires 2 appointments;
1. The preparation stage, the dentist will make alterations to the tooth to create the ideal structure for a crown to bond with. Measurements and impressions will then be made and sent to a laboratory. In between appointments you will be given a temporary crown so the tooth is protected.
2. The fit appointment, the crown is fitted into place.
You will be left with a natural looking, strong usable tooth.
