Dentures
Dentures are one of the most popular solutions to fill gaps from missing teeth, they are a removable appliance made of acrylic or metal. The denture will fit comfortably over the gums to replace missing teeth and remove potential problems caused by gaps.
Gaps in the teeth can cause several problems, it can make speech difficult, affect your oral hygiene as food can get caught and last but not least it can make your smile less aesthetically pleasing and bring down your confidence.
Ultimately there are 2 types of dentures;
- Partial Denture – replaces one tooth or a couple of teeth
- Complete Denture – Which replaces all of your upper or all of your lower arch
The Denture Procedure
The procedure itself is spread over several weeks and multiple appointments.
1. Taking measurements of the relation between each jaw and taking impressions.
2. Create models in a wax or plastic form to assess the fit and shape. There may be a couple of appointments where you ‘try’ the denture and alterations are made to get the correct shade shape and comfort.
3. Cast a final denture.
4. Reviews as required.
