How long does the procedure take?

The complete Zoom whitening treatment takes one hour. The procedure begins with a 10 minute preparation followed by three fifteen minute applications of the gel and laser light.

How does the Zoom whitening procedure really work?

The laser activated whitening gel’s active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide. As the Hydrogen Peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching coloured substances while the structure of the tooth is unchanged.

The laser light activates the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth. A study has shown that use of the UV lamp increases the effectiveness of the gel by 26% or more, giving an average improvement of 8 shades.

How long do the results last?

The answer is one year, on average. By following some simple post whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter then they were before. Are there any side effects?

In some cases, a small number of patients with sensitive teeth can experience some discomfort during the treatment. The laser light generates minimal heat which is the usual source of discomfort. On rare occasions, minor tingling sensation are experienced immediately after the procedure, but always dissipate. You can also ask your dentist to supply you with anti-sensitivity toothpaste for use prior to treatment.
